Best Back-to-School Affiliate Programs & Deals for 2026
Back-to-school season is one of the biggest shopping windows of the year — and most affiliate marketers completely sleep on it. Everyone's laser-focused on Black Friday and the holidays, but by the time October rolls around, the back-to-school money has already been spent.
Parents, college students, and teachers start shopping for supplies, dorm gear, tech, and clothing from late July through early September. If you publish your content now, you have time to rank before the traffic spike hits — and unlike Black Friday, there's a lot less competition fighting for these keywords.
Here's where the money actually is this season, and how to go after it.
Why Back-to-School Is Worth Your Time
A few reasons this season deserves its own strategy instead of getting folded into your general "deals" content:
- High purchase intent. People aren't browsing — they have a list and a deadline.
- Multiple shopping categories in one season. Tech, clothing, dorm supplies, and school supplies all spike at once, which means more angles for content.
- Repeat traffic potential. Parents come back every single year around the same time, which means a well-ranked post keeps paying you for years with minor updates.
- Less saturated than Q4. Every affiliate blog does a Black Friday roundup. Far fewer do a proper back-to-school one.
Tech & Laptops
This is where the highest commissions usually live, especially with student discount programs already baked in.
- Amazon Associates — Laptops, tablets, and accessories convert well because people are already primed to buy on Amazon. Commission rates are low (as I covered in my Amazon Associates review), but volume makes up for it during this season.
- Best Buy Affiliate Program — Strong for electronics and often runs dedicated back-to-school promotions with better payouts during the season.
- Dell and HP affiliate programs — Direct manufacturer programs often beat Amazon's payout on laptops, and both run student-specific discount pages you can link directly to.
- Apple Affiliate Program (via Impact or Partnerize, depending on region) — Lower commission percentage, but high average order value makes it worth including if your audience skews toward Apple products.
Dorm & Home Essentials
- Wayfair Affiliate Program — Dorm and small-space furniture is a huge seasonal category, and Wayfair's back-to-school landing pages make linking easy.
- Target Affiliate Program (via Impact) — Target's dorm and school supply sections get heavy seasonal traffic, and their affiliate program is beginner-friendly.
- Walmart Affiliate Program — Good for budget-focused audiences; strong for school supplies and basic dorm items.
Clothing & Backpacks
- JanSport / Herschel Supply Co. affiliate programs — Backpacks are a near-universal back-to-school purchase and these brands run their own affiliate programs with decent commission rates.
- Old Navy / Gap Affiliate Program — Reliable for family-focused clothing hauls, and they typically run back-to-school specific sales you can time content around.
Online Learning & Student Tools
Don't sleep on this category — it's less obvious, but often has the best commissions on the list.
- Skillshare Affiliate Program — Strong recurring-style payouts for driving new subscribers, and back-to-school is a natural hook ("build skills alongside your coursework").
- Grammarly Affiliate Program — Extremely high intent from students, and one of the more generous commission structures in the education space.
- Chegg / Course Hero affiliate programs — Direct alignment with the "college student" back-to-school audience.
How to Structure Your Content This Season
If you're building this out into a full content push rather than one post, here's the order that tends to work best:
- A master roundup post (this one) that links out to more specific posts.
- Category-specific buying guides — "Best Dorm Room Essentials Under $50," "Best Student Laptops for Under $700," etc. These rank easier than broad "back to school" keywords.
- A "what I'm buying this year" personal post — this performs well for trust-building and gives you a natural way to disclose affiliate links in context, similar to how my holiday gift guide post worked.
If you're looking for more high-commission options to round out your lineup, check out my 5 High-Ticket Affiliate Programs Worth Promoting post — several of those pair naturally with back-to-school tech and furniture categories.
Recommended Tools to Run Your Back-to-School Content Push
If you're building out a full content push around this season rather than just one post, a few tools make the process a lot faster:
- Systeme.io — If you're planning to capture emails from back-to-school traffic (which you should — this audience returns every year), Systeme.io is a solid free-to-start option for building a simple opt-in and follow-up sequence. I go into more detail on why this matters in Why You Need an Email List and You're Losing Money Without One.
- ConvertKit (Kit) — If you already have an email list going, or want more advanced automation once your back-to-school subscribers come in, Kit is worth comparing against Systeme.io. I broke down the differences in Kit vs Mailchimp vs Systeme.io.
- Namecheap — If this seasonal push is the push that convinces you to spin up a dedicated back-to-school microsite or landing page, Namecheap is a fast, affordable place to grab the domain.
- Constant Contact — An alternative to Systeme.io/Kit if you want something a little more traditional for email marketing, especially if you're also running back-to-school promotions for a newsletter list you already built for a different niche.
None of these are back-to-school specific, but this season is exactly the kind of traffic spike that makes having an email capture system in place pay off — you're not just making one commission, you're building a list you can re-market to every single year this season comes around.
A Quick Disclosure Reminder
Just like with any seasonal content, don't skip your disclosure — especially since back-to-school posts often mix genuine personal recommendations with sponsored or affiliate-linked products. If you haven't already, check out my FTC Affiliate Disclosure Rules post and link back to it at the top of each new seasonal guide so you're covered before the traffic starts rolling in.
Bottom Line
Back-to-school won't get the same attention as Black Friday in most affiliate spaces, which is exactly why it's worth showing up for. Publish now, target the specific categories above, and you'll have a head start on both the traffic and the commissions before everyone else remembers this season even exists.
