How to Prepare Your Affiliate Site for Black Friday & Cyber Monday (2026 Checklist)
If you're running an affiliate site, Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) aren't just big shopping days — they're the highest-earning weekend of the year for most affiliates. Amazon Associates, ShareASale, and CJ merchants all push their biggest commission bumps and highest-converting offers during this window.
The problem? Most affiliates start prepping in October, which is already too late for their content to rank. If you're reading this in July or August, you're actually right on time.
Here's a full checklist to get your site ready.
1. Start Your Content Now, Not in November
Google needs time to crawl, index, and rank new content. A "Best Black Friday Deals for [Your Niche]" post published in November has almost no shot at ranking before the holiday is over.
What to do:
- Publish your BFCM roundup posts in August or September
- Use a placeholder structure ("Deals will be added as they're announced") and update it live as offers go out
- Keep the same URL every year — don't create a new post annually. Update the existing one so it retains its backlinks and ranking history
2. Identify Which of Your Programs Actually Run BFCM Promotions
Not every affiliate program participates. Check now, not in November, so you're not scrambling.
- Log into each affiliate dashboard (Amazon, ShareASale, CJ, Impact, Awin) and check for a "Q4 promotions" or "holiday calendar" section
- Email your affiliate managers directly and ask if there's an increased commission rate for BFCM — many programs offer temporary boosts (sometimes double the standard rate)
- Note which merchants offer exclusive coupon codes for affiliates — these convert extremely well and are worth a dedicated post
3. Build (or Update) Your Deals Hub Page
Create one central "Black Friday Deals" page that acts as a hub, there are some good free options, then link out to more specific posts (by category, by product, by brand).
Structure that works well:
Hub page: "Black Friday & Cyber Monday Deals 2026" (broad, evergreen URL)- Sub-pages: "Best Black Friday [Product Category] Deals," "Best Cyber Monday Deals for [Specific Niche]"
- Internal links from your existing top-performing posts into the hub page
4. Get Your Tracking Links in Order
The worst time to discover a broken affiliate link is Black Friday weekend when traffic is highest.
- Audit every affiliate link on your site using a link checker (Broken Link Checker plugin, or Ahrefs/Screaming Frog if you have access)
- Make sure your links use a redirect/cloaking plugin (like Pretty Links or ThirstyAffiliates) so you can update the destination URL in one place if a merchant changes their link structure
- Double check UTM parameters if you're tracking performance across multiple campaigns or channels
5. Prep Your Email List
If you've been building an email list (and you should be — see why you need an email list), BFCM is where it pays off most.
- Plan a 3-email sequence: early access/teaser (mid-November), day-of deals (Black Friday), last-chance/Cyber Monday
- Segment your list if possible — send niche-relevant deals rather than a generic blast
- Write these emails in advance and schedule them; you don't want to be drafting copy while deals are live
6. Prep Social & Pinterest Content Early
Pinterest in particular rewards early posting — pins take weeks to gain traction in search.
- Start pinning BFCM-related content in September
- Create dedicated boards for "Black Friday Deals [Year]"
- For TikTok/Reels/Instagram, plan short-form content for deal reveals and post in the days leading up to and during the event, since that content is more time-sensitive than Pinterest
7. Double-Check FTC Disclosure Compliance
Deal posts are exactly the kind of content the FTC watches closely, since urgency and "hot deal" framing can blur into misleading claims. Make sure every post has a clear, compliant disclosure (see FTC affiliate disclosure rules) and that any claimed discount percentages are accurate and verifiable.
8. Plan for Traffic Spikes
If your site runs on shared hosting, a BFCM traffic spike can slow your site down or take it offline entirely at the exact moment you can't afford it.
- Check your hosting plan's traffic limits
- Enable caching if you haven't already
- Consider a temporary upgrade or CDN (Cloudflare's free tier covers most small affiliate sites) for November
9. Set Up Post-BFCM Follow-Up
The weekend ends, but the opportunity doesn't have to.
- Plan a follow-up email/post for people who didn't buy during BFCM ("Missed the deal? Here's what's still discounted")
- Repurpose your best-performing BFCM content into evergreen "best of" posts for the rest of Q4 leading into Christmas
Quick Timeline Recap
| Timing | Action |
|---|---|
| August–September | Publish/update deals hub and category posts |
| September | Start Pinterest pinning |
| October | Confirm affiliate program promotions and rates |
| Early November | Audit and test all tracking links |
| Mid-November | Send teaser email, schedule social content |
| Black Friday–Cyber Monday | Live updates, deal-day emails and posts |
| Post-BFCM | Follow-up email, repurpose content for Christmas push |
The affiliates who make real money on BFCM aren't the ones with the best deals — they're the ones who show up early, rank before the rush, and have their systems (links, emails, hosting) ready before traffic hits.
